On December 18th, 2024, the streets of Uyo came alive as the Atim Ekanem Foundation organized the much-anticipated Kidney Walk 2024. This impactful event brought together individuals, families, and communities to raise awareness about kidney health and the importance of early detection and prevention of kidney diseases.
The walk kicked off at Stadium Road, Uyo, with participants proudly donning their vibrant black t-shirts. Holding placards with powerful messages such as “Healthy Kidneys, Happier You!” and “High Blood Pressure Harms Your Kidneys!”, the crowd made their way through the bustling streets of Uyo. The event wasn’t just a walk; it was a movement aimed at educating people on kidney health while also building excitement for World Kidney Day 2025.
Spreading Awareness in the Community
The walk emphasized simple, actionable tips to maintain kidney health, such as staying hydrated, eating balanced diets, and scheduling regular check-ups. Volunteers engaged with passersby, sharing informational leaflets and starting conversations about how lifestyle changes can protect kidney health.
A Uniting Force
The Kidney Walk 2024 highlighted the strength of community and the power of collective action. It was inspiring to see people from all walks of life coming together for a common cause—to promote health and save lives.
